Collaborative Approaches to Long-Range Planning

A new article by Robert Deyle (Florida State) and Ryan Weidenman (Atkins Global) in the Journal of Planning Education and Research uses surveys of local officials in MPOs about the process and outcomes of long-range planning.  They found that conditions supportive of collaborative planning (such as staffing, prior collaboration, resource availability, key stakeholders, etc.) had statistically significant impacts on planning outcomes, including perceptions of plan quality, satisfaction with the plan, and implementation.
