During the NADO Annual Training Conference, U.S. Department of Transportation Environmental Specialist shared a presentation the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Permitting 101. This presentation covered the basics of NEPA and key terms to understand, the three categories of project review (Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements) and how they apply, other environmental resource laws and federal, state, and local regulations that apply, as well as USDOT’s Environmental Tools that aid in linking planning with NEPA, preparing documents, and understanding the process.
