The National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC) publishes an annual report highlighting leaders in industry-wide innovation and work by communities to expand transportation information and access to those in need. This year’s report includes strategies shown to improve communication and physical accessibility between available services and potential riders; emphasis on the importance of volunteer driver and engagement programs in rural communities; and nothing the potential barriers standing in the way of making public transit more accessible to passengers with Autism, Alzheimer’s, or dementia.

The strengthening of public transportation services in rural communities is of particular importance for many older Americans or people with disabilities, who may not drive or may find current options to be cost-prohibitive,
