RAND released the report Highway Infrastructure and the Economy: Implications for Federal Policy in 2011. Using previously released studies from a variety of sources, the report describes statistical analyses where links are made to economic impacts, such as changes in productivity, economic output, and employment.  RAND also conducted a meta-analysis of the literature–statistically analyzing the relationships between economic indicators and highway infrastructure across the diverse range of studies and research methodologies reviewed in the report.
