USDOT, HUD to Provide Assistance through Thriving Communities Program

In This Article:

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) invites Letters of Interest to receive technical assistance and capacity building through the Thriving Communities Program. This program targets support toward disadvantaged communities and is designed to help communities compete for federal aid and deliver infrastructure projects. Eligible recipients include transit agencies and Tribal, state, regional, and local government entities. Learn more here. Interested communities must submit Letters of Interest by December 6, 2022.

In the future, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will also offer an opportunity for communities to request capacity building through the Thriving Communities Program. However, HUD is not yet soliciting interest directly from communities seeking to receive technical assistance that is more focused on housing.

Both agencies are also soliciting applications from teams of capacity builders to provide this assistance to communities. The DOT opportunity is here, and the HUD opportunity is here. The deadline for capacity building teams to apply is November 22, 2022.
