The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is seeking public comments on an updated program guidance circular for the section 5311 Formula Grants for Rural Areas program. The proposed updates are available for review and public comment on the Federal Register until June 3, 2024. Anyone with an interest in rural transportation as a consumer or a provider is encouraged to provide feedback for consideration. Circulars such as this provide guidance to entities as they work to implement projects and programs supported by these funds. Many rural communities and transit providers utilize the section 5311 program to access capital, operating, and planning assistance funds for locations with a population of 50,000 or less.
