Preparing for Connected Vehicles in Utah

The state and local government-focused news outlet Route Fifty has published an article on Utah’s efforts to roll out sensors along roadways in order to connect with vehicles.  An initial one-year phase will involve installing about 40 sensors along roadways and 30 state-owned connected vehicles.  Additional phases could be implemented over the next five years to install up to 220 sensors and equip 2,000 vehicles.  The primary goal will be to increase safety by connecting the sensors to cloud-based software to monitor data and automatically generate alerts for connected vehicles, transportation agency staff, and connected infrastructure such as signals and signage.  Read more here.
