The Mountain-Plains Consortium, a University Transportation Center sponsored by the U.S. Department of Transportation, released a new Rural Bicycle Design Guide for Wyoming in October 2019. This guide includes tips for bicycle-related data collection, finding funding support for bicycle facilities, educating the public and enforcing bicycle policies, and more information. In addition, it offers guidance on deciding on types of bicycle facility options, design elements for several types of on-road bicycle facilities, and other design elements such as signage and markings for bicycle travel, traffic calming, and more. Although developed for communities in Wyoming, the design guide offers tips for rural communities in other states, as well.
