On August 29 – 30, the Florida Department of Transportation hosted a peer exchange on rural transportation planning with support from the Federal Highway Administration and with participation by NADO staff and members. NADO Associate Director Carrie Kissel provided a national overview of regional transportation planning organizations, while North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission Planning and Community Development Director Amy Kessler shared Pennsylvania’s rural planning organization model, and Central Florida Regional Planning Council Executive Director Pat Steed gave a presentation on Florida’s context and rural challenges. Other presenters included representatives from several state DOTs, and additional RDO staff attended the event.
