NADO Hosts Virtual Roundtable on Tribal Transit Facilities

In This Article:

On May 12th, NADO hosted a virtual roundtable on tribal transit facilities. The session explored the full life cycle of transit facility grants, from early planning and project development to construction, compliance, and final grant closeout. More than 20 tribal transit professionals and potential partners joined the event to share lessons learned, best practices, and practical insights for developing and managing facilities that support safe, efficient, and resilient transit service in tribal communities.

Participants left with a clearer understanding of funding requirements, common challenges, and strategies for successful project implementation. They also had an opportunity to connect with peers who have managed similar projects.

Speakers included Warren Blackman, Transit Director for Blackfeet Transit on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana, and Michele Smith, Transit Manager for Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribal Transit in Nevada.

A recording of the event is available below.
