Imagining Livability Design Collection

In This Article:

AARP and the Walkable and Livable Communities Institute have released the Imagining Livability Design Collection (PDF).  The document provides photos of tranpsortation-related projects intended to help make a place more walkable, welcoming, and livable.  The photos include some finished projects and some before and after pairs so users can see how the facility changed with the improvement.

The design collection is divided into short-range (providing directions and developing “parklets”), mid-range (mini roundabouts and shared-use paths), and long-range (mixed-use development) projects, as well as planning and policy resources.

The guide also includes information and photos of rural and local roads transformations, small-town main streets, and larger suburban and urban streets and spaces, using specific case locations for each transformation described.
