The U.S. Census Bureau is requesting comments on proposed changes to the American Community Survey (ACS) beginning in 2025. Updated questions and definitions relate to household roster, educational attainment, health insurance coverage, disability, and labor force. Three proposed new questions relate to solar panels, electric vehicles, and sewage disposal.

A Census Bureau white paper (PDF) estimates that the proposed disability questions could significantly reduce the count of disabled individuals, which may have an impact on RDOs’ planning efforts. Additional analysis is available here.

Comments to the Federal Register must be submitted by December 19.
