During the 2016 NADO Annual Training Conference, a panel of three presenters and a moderator shared information about their experiences supporting economic development efforts through bicycle and pedestrian planning. By promoting alternative means of transportation, these four regions are providing more transportation choices for residents and visitors, supporting workers who commute by bicycle, bolstering efforts to support tourism, and offering active recreation options. The panel included Cathy Davison, Albemarle Commission; Wayne Strickland, Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission; Ray Collins, Union County, MS and GM&O Rail to Trail District of Northern Mississippi; and moderator Evan Williams, Northwest New Mexico Council of Governments. These panelists shared presentations and discussed additional resources related to bicycle and pedestrian economic impacts, such as bicycle tourism spending and other issues.
