FTA Announces Mobility On Demand Sandbox Demonstration Program

In This Article:

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has announced that $8 million is available in a new Mobility On Demand Sandbox Demonstration program, intended to support mobility efforts that use on-demand information, real-time data, and predictive analysis to provide individual travelers with transportation choices.  Lead applicants must be providers of public transportation, but the efforts are expected to use a partnership approach including for-profit and nonprofit partners, operators of transportation services, state and local governments, and research consortia or consultants.  Projects applications must address the following principles: System Integration; Partnership Driven; Innovative Business Model; and Equity of Service Delivery. Eligible activities include any activities leading up to demonstration of an actual project.

FTA intends to award multiple proposals.  Proposals are due July 5.  To read the notice of funding opportunity, click here.  For more information, contact FTA staff at [email protected]
