FHWA Webinar: Performance Management Toolbox

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has announced the availability of a new Transportation Performance Management (TPM) Toolbox, which includes the TPM Guidebook and TPM Capability Maturity Model Self-Assessment and other resources.  These tools will be introduced in a FHWA webinar scheduled for Monday, December 5, 2:30 – 4 p.m. EST.  Register for the free webinar here.  For more information, visit FHWA’s TPM website.

A federal framework for transportation performance management was written into the 2012 surface transportation authorization Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) and continued in the 2015 law Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.  The federal framework prescribes certain measures and target-setting roles for states and metropolitan planning organizations, but many state and regional organizations have been incorporating performance measurement into their planning and decision-making processes outside of the federal framework as well.
