FHWA Talking Freight Webinar: 2014 Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals State of Logistics Report

The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), an international, supply chain-focused organization composed of over 8,500 members, publishes an annual report, the State of Logistics Report, which is considered one of the most important reports in the goods movement and freight logistics industry.  The State of Logistics Report provides an overview of current goods movement and freight logistics trends, and also discusses the current freight volumes and economic health of the various freight transportation mode industries.  Understanding the current “lay of the land” in the goods movement and freight logistics industry can help both public and private sector transportation organizations better understand current and possible future freight transportation planning needs.  It can also provide insights into the business aspects of freight transportation, information typically not available to or examined by many public sector freight transportation professionals.  This webinar will provide information on the current state of freight logistics in the United States, including some information about recent freight transportation trends.  It will also explain how companies directly involved in supply chain management utilize and can benefit from the report, and discuss how the report can help public sector transportation professionals better understand transportation supply chain needs and trends and enhance freight transportation planning.
