The Georgetown Climate Center has analyzed how transportation agencies are incorporating climate adaptation into projects in 100 cases from across the country. Many of the documents come from state agencies and metro cities and counties and describe particular projects that incorporate characteristics that are meant to protect transportation infrastructure from weather extremes. These characteristics include adapting to extreme heat, rising temperatures thawing permafrost, culvert replacement, rebuilding after a disaster, and seawalls and other coastal protection strategies.
