The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has released a set of FAQs on issues related to shared mobility.  Shared mobility includes bike-share and car-share, car-hailing, and other innovative transit and mobility services.  The FAQs clarify eligibility for funding through FTA’s grant programs, Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, and controlled substance and alcohol testing requirements.  The answers to many of the questions begin with “it depends” on the specific scenarios proposed, but the FAQs provide valuable information on including shared mobility in plans for an accessible, multimodal transportation system, and for applying for FTA funding as an option for supporting such services.
