Tuck, Inc. has developed the Drowsy Driving Guide: Risks and Prevention. The guide explains what drowsy driving is, goes through some populations that might be at risk of drowsy driving, prevention tips, and resources. Drowsy driving is responsible for 70,000 accidents per year, including 846 people killed in fatal accidents in 2014.
Drowsy driving could be a safety-related topic of conversation within RTPOs and other rural transportation groups, including meetings or communications with members, stakeholders, and the public. For additional resources, also see the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s resources on Drowsy Driving, and the Centers for Disease Control featured issue on Drowsy Driving.
